Wednesday, Ocober 14th, 2015: Oprah launched her TV series "Belief in NYC", an extraordinary journey of the human and the human spirit.
Tuesday, October 27th, 2015: The Giving Back Foundation was invited on the panel for BNP Paribas Philanthropy Event. Julie Shafer, Dr. Beth Breeze and Meera Gandhi discussed the business of philanthropy and purposeful investing. It was an eye-opening discussion followed by a cocktail hour. Special thanks to Claire Bruten.
Monday, January 4th, 2016: Meera Gandhi visited our St. Michael's School – Giving Back Project in New Delhi, India. The school is growing stronger each day.
Thursday, April 7th, 2016: The Giving Back Foundation supported and applauded the screening for the independent film, Rough Book, in Mumbai. The film, directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan and produced by longtime friend Viveck Vaswani, is a moving story that captures some of the problems with Board Exam-based education in India. The audience was visibly moved and we will continue to support the progress of this important film. The film will be released publicly on June 24, 2016.
Friday, April 22nd, 2016: The Giving Back Foundation visited The Big Help Project in Liverpool. This food bank supports over 5000 families each month. The Big Help Project is a charity that works with others to help alleviate poverty throughout Knowsley and the surrounding areas. It works with Knowsley Foodbank, Jubilee Debt Advice, Next Steps and Baby Basics and more to achieve this common goal. Meera Gandhi was the keynote speaker at their annual event in Liverpool. The team included Meera's parents Aghee and Ellen Agarwal. We congratulate Peter Mitchell Executive Chair the Big Help Project; Pamela Ball, Chief Executive Officer Knowsley CVS and Barry Cooper, Founder and CEO the Big Help Project.
Wednesday, April 27th, 2016: The Giving Back Foundation team including Kesi Bailer, Nicole D'Souza and Meera Gandhi hosted an event for Lavelle & Co, a girls mentoring group at The Gandhi Townhouse, which also is the historic former home of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. LaVelle & Co. is a Manhattan-based collective founded in 2009 by Lavelle Olexa encourages women to harness their power, find their passion and achieve their greatest potential. The ladies of Lavelle & Co were able to gather around and talk intimately with Meera to discuss what had encouraged her to start The Giving Back Foundation and how her life has been going for the past couple of years. Gandhi states that volunteering for Mother Teresa at the age of sixteen strongly influenced her to set up a school in India for women and children. Everyone had a wonderful time catching up with each other and enjoying Indian food for dinner, along with some wine!
Friday, April 29th, 2016: President Drew Faust of Harvard University and special alum gathered at COURS where she spoke with John Lithgow from hit TV series, Third Rock From The Sun, who is also a Harvard alumni. They spoke about the importance of a broad based liberal arts education, relevant to our changing world today.
Wednesday, May 4th, 2016: Meera Gandhi, Tracy Young Content and her daughter Alexandra Young Content supported at The Women's Committee of Central Park Conservancy 2016 Hat Luncheon. Despite the clouds and barely 50 degree weather, women and a few men from all over the city came out donned in lavish hats of all kinds for an afternoon of mingling and fun.
Friday, May 6th, 2016: The South Asia Institute at Harvard held a student contest to pick the best social entrepreneurship projects in Boston at Harvard. We congratulate Tarun Khanna and Meena Hewitt for all their hard work at SAI.
Saturday, May 21st, 2016: Kimberly Rockefeller hosted the elegant annual American Friends of Versailles Foundation lunch at The Rockefeller Estate "Kykuit".
Sunday, May 29th, 2016: Proud Mum Meera Gandhi and The Giving Back Foundation congratulates Kanika Gandhi on graduating from Brown University with a Master's Degree from the School of Public Policy. Her parents Meera and Vikram Gandhi and brother Kabir Gandhi were all on hand to show their support!
Saturday, June 4th, 2016: Kanika Gandhi who recently graduated with her masters in Public Policy from Brown University hosted The United World Colleges, Atlantic College class of 2011 reunion at The Gandhi Residence. The alumni enjoyed dinner and cake while catching up.
